This life drawing with a twist features animal poses and silicon masks, created as part of artist RTiiiKT first solo show "Monkey Business" in Bristol. Inviting Bristol Life Drawing t5o have an evening of animal themed fun, I had the opportunity to explore surreal and unconventional figurative work. The model, without a human head for much of the session, posed in various animal-like stances for a life drawing with a difference.
I have made the mask more crow like mask and cardboard with some left over paint scraped onto it. The combination of animal forms and human gestures mimicking animal like stances blurs the line between reality and imagination, as this humanoid stood before us, creating a playful yet thought-provoking image.
The piece was finished with acrylics after I returned home, with a small touch of copper alcohol ink for added texture and shine—can you spot the shiny effect if tilted? I decided to not add any more, and not go in that direction but the evidence still remains. The artwork is created on cardboard, which adds another layer of quirky touch. Just as Van Gogh often used cardboard when canvas wasn’t available or affordable, I enjoy embracing materials that give each piece a unique feel.
